SLOW DOWN!

Sometimes I think God starts with a whisper. "Slow down My child," He whispers, "your life is getting too busy."
"But, I have a list of things to do and it's getting longer. I can't slow down." Seems to be my response.
I hate to do this...but I'm going to allow your sweet little one to come down with a fever. Maybe that will get your attention.
"Ugh. Ok, I'll sit still for a day."
Things to do people to see..."What? You don't have any clean underwear or socks? Ok. I'll do some laundry. Just sort through the pile that is growing on our chair in the living-room. They're all clean clothes...I'm sure you'll find something you can wear that's not too wrinkly."
"What's that funky smell? Oh? You haven't done the dishes yet? Ugh!"
"Nicole, Slow Down!" God.
"But, I have a party, we're going to Disney and then I have another party!"
"Oh sweet girl...take a deep breath and enjoy those little one's I've given you!"
"I will, but, things to do, people to see!"
Saturday...my day went a little like this:
~Wake up at my mom's house cause we got in late and drove together to Hollywood Studios.
~Realized that the keys I needed to get some stuff done were in my sister's car and she was at work.
~Drive to my sister's work to get her keys.
~Go to a friend's office to pick-up an order.
~Back to mom's to take care of my kids.
~Get my baby to sleep.
~Lay her on the bed with pillows stacked up like a tower around her.
~Continually tell the bigger girls to stay quite...the baby is SLEEPING!
~They make noise anyway...the baby wakes up and before we can get to her...she climbs up and over the pillows and falls off of my parents pillowtop mattress onto the wood floor.
~Hold ice on my 10 month olds head and try to make sure she hasn't broken anything.
~Wow! She looks pretty with the tic tac toe pattern on her forehead...thanks to the woven rug that broke her fall.
~Did I mention both girls have runny noses, coughs and a little bit of a fever?
~Party anyway!
~Come home.
~Go to bed.
"SLOW DOWN!!!"
"Ok. I got the picture! Rest! Watch the girls play! Let them have a day to stay at home and watch a little cartoons and play dress-up...but there's that pile of laundry staring me down."

Yes, Yes, Yes! I have had this same dialogue so many times with God. And He always seems to say "Slow Down!" to me, too!

Guess we all should start listening! I can't believe how fast it all goes...
